Trauma has become a buzz word recently with many offering Trauma Informed Counselling services.

The problem with the treatment of trauma
The Problem is this is generally slow and the client has to stay in a semi or traumatised state and mey never fully recover.
What I offer for Trauma treatment is not counselling
Rather than trauma informed counselling I offer sessions and training in RCH:PTIT-P&G Rapid Core Healing Practical Trauma Informed Treatment for Personal and generational trauma recovery.
Trauma from my experience of over twenty-five years with clients, exists on a spectrum from relatively mild disturbances, triggers to extreme life threatening situations causing major PTSD symptoms.
These may form the causal points of a wide range of mental illnesses (depression, anxiety, panic attacks, poor self-esteem), substance abuse or behavioural problems.

While most Trauma Informed Counselling takes place through creating rapport, creating a safe space and through many types of psychotherapies, such as talk therapies and expressive, play or art therapies there is a belief that in unpacking or reliving the situation in a safe or safer place, is required to process it.
Understanding and managing PTSD symptoms doesnt resolve trauma
I have found that the majority of my clients have gone through such methodologies who are still suffering some or all of their traumatic symptoms and who refer to themselves as trauma victims or survivors.

The Problem with Trauma
The problem is that trauma is caused by the “fight and flight” response to shock, danger and threat to life. The response is opened up but not resolved. This is repressed in the subconscious mind for psychological protection in the Amygdala and may present as amnesia. Repressed means its still very much alive and may show itself in many ways over time as mental illness, fear, anxiety, panic attacks, triggers to flashbacks and physical and emotional responses that interfere with their inner world and also their ability to connect with others in meaningful ways.
Traditional trauma informed counselling including CBT attempt to work with cognitive understanding, reasoning or emotional processing which means it is out of reach of. This is because the conscious mind is only around 5% of the mind. The causal memory and experience is locked in the subconscious mind and nervous system. The 95%.

How many kinds of Traumas are there?
There are more than one source of trauma, it is not one size fits all.
They may be roughly grouped into three treatment areas. Each area is a set of traumas that require specific background knowledge and understanding and skill for specific effective trauma processing.
